RESOLUTION NO. 910586

 

Directing the City Manager to initiate action to explore and encourage the use of rubberized pads at railroad/street crossings.

WHEREAS, the City is faced with the need to address a solid waste management program; and

 

WHEREAS, one of the issues to be considered by the City is the reuse of tires; and

 

WHEREAS, there are various alternatives including the use of rubberized pads instead of wooden railroad ties at railroad crossings; and

 

WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 389.610, RSMo Supp. 1990, the Missouri Division of Transportation exercises exclusive jurisdiction on approval of railroad/street crossings; and

 

WHEREAS, it is the intention of the Council to explore and encourage the use of rubberized pads; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the City Manager is hereby directed to initiate appropriate action to explore and encourage the use of rubberized pads at all railroad/street crossings in Kansas City, Missouri, including but not limited to presentations of the merits of such proposal to the Missouri Division of Transportation.
