RESOLUTION NO. 160536

 

Honoring Curt Futvoye for his 35 years of service to the citizens of Kansas City, Missouri.

 

WHEREAS, Curt Futvoye’s tenure as a City employee began in 1981, when he was hired as an electrician at the Convention Center; his commitment to learning and work afforded him several promotions over the years. In 1984, he became an electrical supervisor, in 1988, he earned his Master Electrician license, and in 1990, he was again promoted and assigned to create the Technical Services Division at Bartle Hall. In this role, he was responsible for telecommunications, audio, and computer services for conventioneers, as well as expanded technical services for Kemper Arena and the American Royal Center. In 2006, another promotion to Building Manager placed the Municipal Complex into Curt’s able hands, and in 2009, he earned Facility Management certification through the International Facility Management Association; and

 

WHEREAS, Curt’s knowledge, skills and leadership ability have been integral to the overall management and operations of many City assets, including City Hall, five buildings at the City Market, Kemper Arena, Municipal Court, the KCPD Headquarters and Annex, the Communications Center, and ten downtown parking garages. In every role and capacity, Curt has shared information and knowledge, and has served as a teacher and advisor to his colleagues. Throughout his 35 years of City employment, Curt has served honorably and well; and

 

WHEREAS, Curt’s ability to blend technical knowledge into a customer service environment made General Services a better department. Curt’s sense of responsibility, skill, and commitment make him a public servant worthy of our respect and admiration; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby extend to Curt Futvoye, on the occasion of his retirement from City service, the heartiest best wishes for the future, together with their most sincere appreciation for his years of dedicated service to the citizens of Kansas City; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of the Council in testimony thereof, and that a copy hereof be presented to Curt Futvoye as a token of the Mayor and Council’s respect and high regard and their best wishes for a long and happy retirement, which he so richly deserves.
