ORDINANCE NO. 960479

 

Authorizing an agreement with the Convention and Visitors Bureau for Fiscal Year 1996-97.

 

WHEREAS, pursuant to state statute and the Code of Ordinances of Kansas City, the Convention and Visitors Bureau of Greater Kansas City, Missouri, enters into an annual agreement with the City providing 40% of the 5 1/2% Convention and Tourism Tax on sleeping rooms to promote convention and tourism in the Kansas City area; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section 1. That the Director of Convention and Entertainment Centers is authorized to execute, on behalf of the City, an agreement with the Convention and Visitors Bureau of Greater Kansas City for services to be rendered during the 1995-96 Fiscal Year. A copy of the agreement is approved in substantial form as that attached to this ordinance.

 

Section 2. That the terms and conditions of the agreement, including the obligation of the City to pay a maximum of 40% of the 5 1/2% Convention and Tourism Tax on sleeping rooms collected by the City during the term of the agreement, currently estimated to be $3,620,000.00, for the services to be rendered by the Convention and Visitors Bureau of Greater Kansas City, Missouri, is approved.

I hereby certify that there is a balance, otherwise unencumbered, to the credit of the appropriation to which the foregoing expenditure is to be charged, and a cash balance, otherwise unencumbered, in the treasury, to the credit of the fund from which payment is to be made, each sufficient to meet the obligation hereby incurred.
