RESOLUTION NO. 100859

 

Concurring with the intention of the Planned Industrial Expansion Authority of Kansas City, Missouri, to accept the proposal of Swope Community Builders MI, LP, for the redevelopment of the East Village Apartments Project in the East Downtown PIEA Area.

 

WHEREAS, the Council has passed Ordinance No. 040180, finding that a blighted, unsanitary and undeveloped industrial area exists in a area bounded by 6th Street and Admiral Boulevard on the north, Cherry Street on the west, 11th Street on the south, and Interstate 70 (1-70) right-of-way on the east ("East Downtown PIEA Area") and approving a general development plan for the area; and

 

WHEREAS, the Planned Industrial Expansion Authority of Kansas City, Missouri (the "Authority") requested proposals for the development of a project in the East Downtown PIEA Area; and

 

WHEREAS, after public notice as required in Section 100.410, RSMo, the Authority duly considered all proposals and the financial and legal ability of the prospective developers to carry out the proposals; and

 

WHEREAS, on September 17, 2010, the Authority indicated its intention to accept the proposal of Swope Community Builders MI, LP for the redevelopment of the East Village Apartments Project at 619 E. 9th Street, 912 Holmes and 916 Holmes in the East Downtown PLEA Area; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section 1. That the Council hereby concurs with the intention of the Authority to accept the proposal of East Village, LLC for the redevelopment of the East Village Apartments Project in the East Downtown PIEA Area, as set forth in Resolution No. 1423 of the Authority, and authorizing the Authority to enter into an industrial development contract with Swope Community Builders MI, LP, upon adoption of this resolution.
