COMMITTEE SUBSTITUTE FOR ORDINANCE NO. 190283

 

Authorizing the Director of Health to enter into contracts with area health centers, along with Children's Mercy Hospital, Truman Medical Center, and Swope Ridge Geriatric Center to provide primary health care services for indigent residents in Kansas City, Missouri.

 

WHEREAS, this ordinance authorizes contracts with various hospitals, area health centers and a geriatric center to provide primary health care services for indigent residents; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section 1. That agreements between the City of Kansas City, Missouri, acting through its Director of Health, and Kansas City CARE Clinic, Northland Health Care Access, Samuel U. Rodgers Health Center and Samuel U. Rodgers Health Center, Swope Health Services, Children’s Mercy Hospital, Truman Medical Center, and Swope Ridge Geriatric Center, acting through their Executive Directors, whereby these agencies will provide primary health care services for the City's indigent residents for the period beginning May 1, 2019 through April 30, 2020, to be paid from funds previously appropriated to the Health Levy accounts listed below, are hereby accepted and approved. Copies of these agreements, in substantial form, are on file with the Director of Health.

20-2330-512135-F Northland Health Care Access 331,898.00

20-2330-512139-F Samuel U. Rodgers/Cabot Westside 927,030.00

20-2330-512144-F Swope Ridge Geriatric Center 350,000.00

20-2330-512137-F Swope Health Center 1,698,236.00

20-2330-512120-F Children’s Mercy Hospital 649,874.00

20-2330-512150-F Truman Medical Center 26,400,000.00

TOTAL $30,895,698.00

 

Section 2.  That the Director is hereby authorized to extend the term of these contracts without further Council approval and that the Director is also hereby authorized to amend these contracts to increase or decrease the total contract dollar amounts contingent upon the availability of appropriated funds.  The Director shall send notification to the Health Commission and the City Council thirty days before any such increase or decrease.  No action shall be taken until thirty days after such notice.

I hereby certify that there is a balance, otherwise unencumbered, to the credit of the appropriation to which the foregoing expenditure is to be charged, and a cash balance, otherwise unencumbered, in the treasury, to the credit of the fund from which payment is to be made, each sufficient to meet the obligation hereby incurred.
