RESOLUTION NO. 010721

 

Declaring May, 2001, as National Teen Pregnancy Prevention Month in Kansas City.

 

WHEREAS, National Teen Pregnancy Prevention Months goal is to improve the quality of life for this generation and the next generation and reduce the teen pregnancy rate by one-third between 1996-2005; and

 

WHEREAS, Kansas City - Working with Adolescents in Time (KC-WAIT), Samuel Rodgers Responsible Choices Committee, Childrens Mercy Hospital, Family Health Partners, Kidsafe, New Direction Behavioral Health, Teen Moms Program Truman Medical Center, Wyandotte County Health Department, Samuel Rodgers Health Clinic support the National Teen Pregnancy Prevention Month and school base health clinics; and

 

WHEREAS, National Teen Pregnancy Prevention Month will promote awareness of teen pregnancy prevention efforts in neighborhoods, faith based communities, adolescent clinics and schools in the metropolitan Kansas City area and the importance of teen friendly health care services for teens; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby declare May, 2001, as National Teen Pregnancy Prevention Month in Kansas City, and commend and support school base health clinics; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that copies hereof be presented to KC-WAIT, in token of the genuine respect and appreciation in which the National Teen Pregnancy Prevention Month is held and the need for school base health clinics in our community.
