RESOLUTION NO. 100182

 

Congratulating the 2010 Environmental Protection Agency Brownfield Remediation Trainees.

 

WHEREAS, the City of Kansas City enacted a climate protection plan; and

 

WHEREAS, the City adopted a green solutions policy directing City departments to incorporate green solutions into projects, programs and policies such as the Environmental Protection Agency- Brownfield Remediation Training program; and

 

WHEREAS, we believe the entire community plays a vital role in shaping our long term priority in becoming a nationally recognized green City; and

 

WHEREAS, these residents not only gained knowledge and experiences as it relates to remediating environmental issues, but also in becoming civic minded and contributing over 1,500 service hours collectively to community projects; and

 

WHEREAS, the Environmental Protection Agency Job Training grant is a catalyst to bring together community groups, job training organizations, educators, labor groups, investors, lenders, developers, and other affected parties to address the issue of providing environmental employment and training for residents in communities impacted by Brownfields. The Program is an organized commitment to help communities revitalize Brownfields properties both environmentally and economically, mitigate potential health risks, and restore economic vitality to areas where Brownfields exist; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby congratulate the 2010 Environmental Protection Agency Brownfield Remediation Trainees; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that copies hereof be presented to Martin Gantt, Marvin Miller, Eric Burhop, Michael Canzonere, Boomer Chamberlin, Henry Gonzalez, Ramon Hinson, Cory Jones, Adrienne Mays- Glover, Paul McCarty, Clarence McDaniel, Jerome Milton, Travis Mullendore, Carlos Pike, Henry Titchenell, James Toney, Jr. Isiaiah Townes, Chris Van Horn, Rodney Wilson, Tyrell Handson, Datheon Jackson, DeAngelo Maddix, Ian Salois, Natashia Carson, Wayman Mosley and Eddie Roberts with the appreciation of the Mayor and Council for the service given to the community by all of them.
