RESOLUTION NO. 050525

 

Commending Dale Schulte for providing affordable housing in Downtown Kansas City through the restoration and preservation of historic buildings.

 

WHEREAS, the Landmarks Commission of Kansas City, Missouri, created the Dr. George Ehrlich Achievement in Preservation Award to be given to those individuals or groups whose contributions constitute a record of achievement in the field of preservation; and

 

WHEREAS, the Landmarks Commission on April 22, 2005, voted unanimously to nominate Dale Schulte as the recipient of the 2005 Ehrlich Award; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Schulte has renovated the Chambers Building, the Hanover Building, the Finance Building, the Baker-Vawter Building and the Waltower building; all listed on the National Register of Historic Places; into affordable housing; and

 

WHEREAS, all those renovations were certified historic rehabilitations; and

 

WHEREAS, those projects serve as a model for combining preservation efforts with the need for affordable housing; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby commends Dale Schulte for providing affordable housing in Downtown Kansas City through the restoration and preservation of historic buildings; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Dale Schulte with the congratulations of the Mayor and Council on winning the 2005 Dr. George Ehrlich Achievement in Preservation Award for his outstanding contributions to the preservation of the Historic Buildings in Downtown Kansas City, Missouri while providing affordable housing.
