RESOLUTION NO. 010788

 

Honoring Central Bank of Kansas City on the occasion of their 50th anniversary and recognizing their outstanding contributions to their community.

 

WHEREAS, Central Bank of Kansas City was chartered in August 1950 and opened for business in March of 1951, serving the residents of Northeast Kansas City; and

 

WHEREAS, Central Bank has a strong Community Reinvestment Program, and has been rated Outstanding by the FDIC for its community reinvestment efforts; and

 

WHEREAS, the Bank has had a relationship with Old Northeast, Inc. Community Development Corporation for many years, supporting their efforts to better the Northeast community. In 1999, the Bank joined with Old Northeast, Inc., to construct 30 new homes in the northeast; and

 

WHEREAS, Central Bank has also been involved with the Historic Northeast Restoration Corporation since its inception, has formed a community partnership with the Kansas City Neighborhood Alliance and the Bishop Sullivan Community Center to provide assistance to the residents of Blue Valley in home rehabilitation and revitalization efforts, issuing a $65,000.00 grant as seed money for the project; and

 

WHEREAS, each year, Central Bank sponsors such community events as the Historic Northeast Fall Festival, the Minority Suppliers Council Annual Business Fair, and the Cultures Without Borders Art Exhibit; and

 

WHEREAS, education has also been important to Central Bank, participating in the Bank at School program since 1995, sitting on the board of the Academy of Finance at a local high school, and being a proactive member of the First Step Fund since 1994; and

 

WHEREAS, Central Bank has been recognized by the Community Development Financial Institutions Fund for the Banks investment in distressed communities, having been granted awards under CDFIs Bank Enterprise Award Program for the past five years; and

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby honor Central Bank of Kansas City on the occasion of their 50th anniversary and recognize their outstanding contributions to their community; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that copies hereof be presented to Bill Dana, President and CEO of Central Bank, and Steve Morgan, Executive Vice-President of Central Bank, with the appreciation of the Mayor and Council for being a leader in both the business and civic community of Kansas City.
