RESOLUTION NO. 080002

 

Honoring James C. Duddy, Jr. on his retirement from the Fire Department with a total of 50 years of service.

 

WHEREAS, on January 7, 1953, James C. Duddy, Jr. was appointed to the Kansas City, Missouri Fire Department; and

 

WHEREAS, in 1967, Mr. Duddy was promoted to a Fire Apparatus Operator and in 1977 was promoted to a Captain; and

 

WHEREAS, after 27 years of service, Mr. Duddy retired from the Fire Department; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Duddy returned to the Fire Department in 1985 as a Fire Inspector; and

 

WHEREAS, in 1994 was promoted to an Assistant Fire Marshal; and

 

WHEREAS, on January 4, 2008, Mr. Duddy will again retire from the Fire Department with another 23 years of service making a total of over 50 years of service to the Fire Department; and

 

WHEREAS, Assistant Fire Marshal Duddy has set the standard in the areas of integrity, commitment, dedication and customer service; and

 

WHEREAS, Assistant Fire Marshal Duddy has provided strong leadership to the Metropolitan Arson Task Force and is known as an outstanding fire investigator throughout the region; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby honor James C. Duddy, Jr. on his retirement from the Fire Department with a total of 50 years of service; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to James C. Duddy, Jr., in token of the Mayor and Councils respect and high regard and their best wishes for a long and happy retirement which he so richly deserves.
