RESOLUTION NO. 051007

 

Congratulating Dr. Rex Archer on assuming the presidency of the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO), the national organization representing the nations nearly 3,000 local public health departments July 12, 2005.

 

WHEREAS, since becoming the director of the Kansas City, Missouri Health Department, Dr. Archer has worked tirelessly to implement a number of changes and improvements to make Kansas City a healthier place to live, and

 

WHEREAS, through his leadership the Kansas City, Missouri Health Department was recognized by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services as a Missouri Model Agency; and

 

WHEREAS, the Kansas City, Missouri Health Department was among the first group of eleven local public health agencies nationally to be recognized by the Centers for Communicable Diseases and Prevention to be certified Public Health Ready; and

 

WHEREAS, in 2004, the Kansas City, Missouri Health Department became the first local public health agency to be fully accredited west of the Mississippi; and

 

WHEREAS, through his activism, Dr. Archer has brought a great deal of positive attention and recognition to Kansas City;

 

WHEREAS, through NACCHO, Dr. Archer will serve for a one year term as the recognized leader of an organization that develops resources and programs and promotes national policies that support effective local public health practice; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council of Kansas City hereby congratulate Dr. Archer in his assuming the presidency of the National Association of County and City Health Officials and his efforts to improve the health and safety of all Kansas Citians, and encourage the continuation of such efforts; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Dr. Rex Archer, and the Kansas City, Missouri Health Department, with the support of the Mayor and Council.
