RESOLUTION NO. 910415

 

Expressing appreciation to the honorable Charles A. Hazley for his service as Councilmember representing the Third District.

WHEREAS, Charles Hazley has represented Kansas City's Third Councilmanic District for twenty years; and

 

WHEREAS, during his fifth four-year term Mr. Hazley has faithfully served on the Plans and Zoning, Policy and Rules, Economic Development, and Sports Liaison Committees; and

 

WHEREAS, Charles Hazley has focused his efforts on stimulating economic development in his inner-city district and has been instrumental in bringing such important projects to his district as the Linwood Shopping Center, Justin Place Housing Development, 12th Street Corridor public works improvements, and the redevelopment of the 18th and Vine area; and

 

WHEREAS, he has demonstrated the depth of his commitment to the district's youth through his involvement with organizations such as the Urban Employment Network, the Full Employment Council and the Private Industry Council, groups which strive to make jobs accessible to inner-city youth; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Hazley's untiring work with the Black Economic Union, the Minority Contractors Association, and the Downtown Minority Development Corporation has helped ensure minority participation in business ventures, major construction projects and development efforts; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Hazley's talents and energy have benefitted the residents of the Third District and the entire City; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council thank Charles Hazley for twenty years of service on the City Council representing the needs of the Third District; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread on the Minutes of the council in testimony thereof and a copy be presented to Councilmember Hazley in token of his service to the Third District and Kansas City.
