RESOLUTION NO. 100822

 

Honoring Reverend John “Modest” Miles.

 

WHEREAS, the Reverend John “Modest” Miles was honored at the 130th Annual Session of the National Baptist Convention USA, Inc.; and

WHEREAS, the National Baptist Convention USA, Inc. held its 130th Annual Session in the City of Kansas City, Missouri; and

 

WHEREAS, Reverend Miles served as the 2010 Committee Chairman just as he did in 1998 and 2003; and

 

WHEREAS, Reverend Miles is currently the Chaplin for the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department, a member of the National Laymen Movement; a member of the Kansas City, Missouri Baptist Ministers Union, a participant in the Concerned Clergy Coalition; a member of the One Church, One Child, Church Adoption Program; and a board member of the Western Baptist Bible College of Kansas City, Missouri; and

 

WHEREAS, Reverend Miles is a past board member of the Arkansas Bible College of Little Rock, Arkansas; a former board member of the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation; a past board member of the Heart of America United Way; a past member of the Presidential task force “American’s for Change”; and a past Vice President At-Large for the Missouri Missionary Baptist State Convention; and a past member of the Board of Directors for Health Midwest Partners for Change; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby honor and thank Reverend John “Modest” Miles for his many years of civic engagement in the City of Kansas City, Missouri; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Reverend John “Modest” Miles with the appreciation of Mayor, Council and citizens of Kansas City for his hard work and dedication to this community.
