ORDINANCE NO. 060769
Authorizing the Director of City Development
to enter into an agreement with Mid-America Regional Council for the purpose of
providing tower space for Regional Area Multi-Band Integrated System equipment.
WHEREAS, the
Kansas City metro area is one of fifty-one urban areas in the United States
that has been designated an Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) site by the
Department of Homeland Securitys Office for Domestic Preparedness (ODP); and
WHEREAS, funding
is provided to enhance preparedness and improve response to the terrorist
threat of a weapons of mass destruction attack and Kansas Citys UASI funding
is being administered through the Mid-America Regional Council (MARC); and
WHEREAS, the
Kansas City Region is planning to use part of its UASI funding to address the
need for interoperable communications through the implementation of a Regional
Area Multi-Band Integrated System (RAMBIS); NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED
BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
Section 1. That
the Director of City Development is authorized to enter into an agreement with
Mid-America Regional Council for a five (5) year term, with four (4) additional
five-year term extensions, to collocate RAMBIS equipment on three existing self
support lattice towers.
