RESOLUTION NO. 081191

 

Honoring the Northland Health Care Access, through a partnership with the North Kansas City School District and the Clay County Public Health Center, for creating the Crestview Family Medical Clinic.

 

WHEREAS, the Northland Health Care Access, through a partnership with the North Kansas City School District and the Clay County Public Health Center, are delivering much-needed health care services to uninsured, underinsured, and underserved children and their families enrolled in the district via a school-based clinic at Crestview Elementary School in Kansas City, Missouri; and

 

WHEREAS, Crestview Elementary School is a community anchor and open every evening and provides parent education, before and after child-care and academic tutoring, YouthFriends programming, English as a second language classes for adults, a mobile dental unit for students, community dinner and night activities for families, a success by six parent resource center, Crestview community grant for home improvement programming, a community adopt-a-family program, and a family services coordinator and social worker on staff at the school; and

 

WHEREAS, with all of the numerous services provided, the Crestview Elementary School on August 25, 2008, added an on-site health center with the North Kansas City School District providing the clinic space and utilities as well as some expenses for space renovation and the Clay County Public Health Center providing administration of medical staff, scheduling and billing for the overall program; and

 

WHEREAS, in addition to students, the clinic is open to the childrens families and the general community with the Clinic providing a range of primary care services including diagnosis and treatment for minor, acute and chronic conditions, routine physical examinations and preventive services; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby honor the Northland Health Care Access, through a partnership with the North Kansas City School District and the Clay County Public Health Center, for creating the Crestview Family Medical Clinic; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Karen Dolt, Executive Director, Northland Health Care Access, with the appreciation of the Mayor, Council and citizens of Kansas City for this new service to the community.
