RESOLUTION NO. 080396

 

Declaring April 2026, 2008, as Administrative Professionals Week and April 23, 2008, as Administrative Professionals Day.

 

WHEREAS, the first official "National Secretaries Week" was proclaimed by the U.S. Secretary of Commerce, Charles Sawyer in June of 1952; and

 

WHEREAS, in 2000, the name was changed to Administrative Professionals Week; and

 

WHEREAS, administrative professionals, including administrative assistants, office supervisors, and secretaries comprise the largest segment of the office work force; and

WHEREAS, administrative professionals serve as vital information hubs in the modern office, managing information, organizing the office, and mastering office technology; and

WHEREAS, Administrative Professionals Week highlights the major contributions of administrative professionals to business and government; and

 

WHEREAS, the City of Kansas City, Missouri provides administrative professionals with education, networking opportunities, certifications, and other career-enhancing programs while also advancing the image of the profession; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council do hereby declare April 2026, 2008, as Administrative Professionals Week and April 23, 2008, as Administrative Professionals Day; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Ramonda Doakes in token of the high esteem with which the Mayor and Council hold administrative professionals in City government and calling upon management and the business community everywhere to join in recognizing these outstanding professionals and to provide them with training and support to continue their professional growth.
