RESOLUTION NO. 120157

 

Honoring Bloodstone, a Kansas City R & B Vocal & Musical Group, for 50 years of entertainment.

 

WHEREAS, Bloodstone is best known for their Grammy award winning single

“Natural High”, which has been certified as both Gold and Platinum; and

 

WHEREAS, Bloodstone was originally known as the “Sinceres”, who got their

start while attending Kansas Central High in the summer of 1962; and

 

WHEREAS, Willis Draffen, Roger Durham, Charles D. Love, Charles E McCormick, and Harry Williams, Jr., represented Kansas City in an exemplary fashion; and

 

WHEREAS, for the past 50 years, Bloodstone has kept alive the Rhythm & Blues tradition and have performed in concerts throughout the United States, Great Britain and Europe, including Carnegie Hall, Madison Square Garden, and the Apollo Theatre; and

 

WHEREAS, Bloodstone has returned home to give back to their neighborhoods, community and Kansas City, by dedicating their latest single, “Spread Some Love”; and

 

WHEREAS, Bloodstone has joined the campaign with the AdHoc Group Against Crime, to make this a better and a safer place for our children, youth and their families; and

 

WHEREAS, Bloodstone shall be inducted into the Kansas Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on February 25, 2012; and

 

WHEREAS, Bloodstone's Harry Williams, Jr., Charles D. Love, Charles E. McCormick and Donald Brown, are all natives of this fair city of Kansas City, Missouri; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby welcome Bloodstone to Kansas City, Missouri; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof, and that a copy hereof be presented to Bloodstone

with the appreciation of the Mayor, Council and citizens of Kansas City for the 50 Golden years of music and entertainment they have provided this community, across the

country and around the world.
