RESOLUTION NO. 061011
Recognizing the independent restaurateurs of the Kansas
City Originals for offering diners their unique local flavors
while helping to support vital children's services with the Kansas City
Originals Restaurant Week, September 11th-17th.
WHEREAS, dozens of independent
restaurants have joined as the Kansas City Originals, to promote fine dining
with a unique local flavor while supporting vital local charities; and
WHEREAS, the Kansas City
Originals have prepared a weeklong celebration of our City's vitality, cultural
as well as culinary, the week of Monday, September 11th through Sunday,
September 17th; and
WHEREAS, the "Kansas City
Originals Restaurant Week" will benefit both KCPT's Children's Network and
Operation Breakthrough, two of Kansas City's most important providers of
children's services; and
WHEREAS, the week began with a
series of specially planned prix fixe dinners at selected Originals restaurants
from Monday through Thursday; and
WHEREAS, on Friday, September
15th, the celebration continues with the Fifth Annual Benefit for KCPT Kids, a
gala progressive dinner with dining and dancing under the stars, at Liberty
Memorial overlooking Downtown; and
WHEREAS, the week culminates on
Sunday, September 17th, with the Originals' 2006 Urban Picnic, featuring
gourmet dining and non-stop entertainment in Kansas City's most urban
setting-under the clock in Union Station; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF
KANSAS CITY:
The Mayor and Council hereby
recognize the independent restaurateurs of the Kansas City Originals for
offering diners their unique local flavors while helping to support vital
children's services with the Kansas City Originals Restaurant Week, September
11th-17th; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon
the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that copies hereof be
presented to representatives of the Kansas City Originals, in appreciation for
their important services to the children, as well as to the cuisine of Kansas City.
