COMMITTEE SUBSTITUTE FOR ORDINANCE NO. 150584

 

Authorizing the Director of General Services to execute agreements with Kansas City Power and Light for the hosting of Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) stations at various City facilities.

 

WHEREAS, the City is a leader in creating sustainable communities and desires to continue this effort; and

WHEREAS, the use of electric powered vehicles directly reduces the amount of carbon emitted into the atmosphere, resulting in a cleaner and healthier environment; and

WHEREAS, an expanded network of EVSEs is required to promote and enhance the use of electric vehicles; and

WHEREAS, the City owns several properties which are accessed by the public and near places of employment, entertainment, recreation and governance; and

WHEREAS, the City will partner with Kansas City Power and Light to install, maintain, repair and operate electric vehicle charging stations in City facilities; and

WHEREAS, the City will pay the cost of the electricity for the electric vehicle charging stations through its monthly electric bill; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section 1. That the Director of General Services Department is hereby authorized to execute, on behalf of Kansas City, an agreement with Kansas City Power and Light to enter into a 10 year Site License Agreement with KCP&L to install, maintain, repair and operate electric vehicle supply equipment at thirteen properties owned by the city. Once agreement is signed, a copy will be on file in the office of the Director of General Services.
