ORDINANCE NO. 050400

 

Authorizing a $249,542.00 Amendment No. 2 with Black and Veatch Corporation for Contract No. 832, Blue River WWTP Incineration Upgrade; authorizing the Director of Water Services to expend $249,542.00 for the project; authorizing the Director of Finance to return unexpended appropriations to the appropriate account; and recognizing an emergency.

 

WHEREAS, the City approved a $48,700.00 contract with Black and Veatch Corporation for the Blue River WWTP Incineration Upgrade project in December 2003 for emergency design and construction phase services; and

 

WHEREAS, the City approved a $201,152.00 Amendment No. 1 contract with Black and Veatch Corporation, for Contract No. 832, Blue River Wastewater Treatment Incineration Upgrade in June 2004 for study and design phase services; and

 

WHEREAS, a $249,542.00 Amendment No. 2 contract with Black and Veatch Corporation, for Contract No. 832, is needed to authorize additional funds directly related to the design professional and construction phase services for emergency incinerator repairs at the Blue River Wastewater Treatment Plant; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section 1. That the Director of Water Services is hereby authorized to execute, on behalf of Kansas City, a $249,542.00 Amendment 2 to Contract No. 832, Blue River WWTP Incineration Upgrade to provide for additional funds directly related to the design professional and construction phase services for emergency incinerator repairs at the Blue River Wastewater Treatment Plant. A copy of this amendment is on file in the office of the Director of Water Services.

 

Section 2. That the appropriation in the following account of the 2004A Sanitary Sewer Revenue Bonds Fund is hereby reduced by the following amount:

Wastewater Facilities

$249,542.00

 

Section 3. That the sum of $249,542.00 is hereby appropriated from the Unappropriated Fund Balance of the 2004A Sanitary Sewer Revenue Bonds Fund to the following account in the 2004A Sanitary Sewer Revenue Bonds Fund:

 

AL-8179-807127-B

BRWWTP Incinerator Upgrade

$249,542.00

 

Section 4. That upon completion of the final costs of this contract, the Director of Finance is hereby authorized to return the unexpended portion of this appropriation to the Unappropriated Fund Balance from which it was derived.

 

Section 5. This ordinance, making an appropriation for the current expenses of the municipal government, is recognized to be an emergency measure within the provisions of Article II, Section 15 of the Charter of Kansas City and shall take effect in accordance with that section.
