RESOLUTION NO. 050912
Declaring the week of July 17-23,
2005, as Probation and Parole Officer Week.
WHEREAS, the American
Probation and Parole Association has designated July 17-23, 2005, as Probation,
Parole and Community Supervision Week; and
WHEREAS, 159 Missouri
probation and parole officers provide supervision and investigative services
through five district offices and at the Kansas City Community Release Center,
and who supervise the 8000 probation and parole offenders in Kansas City,
Missouri; and
WHEREAS, parole and
probation officers are instrumental in helping ensure the safety of
people living in and visiting Kansas City, Missouri. These officers serve the
residents of the City by holding offenders accountable for their actions and in
assisting the restitution process; and
WHEREAS, to
acknowledge the services provided by parole and probation officers, and to
recognize the dedicated and professional fashion in which officers pursue this
important week, the American Probation and Parole Association, in conjunction
with the Missouri Board of Probation and Parole has identified July 17-23, 2005,
a week to honor the officers who supervise probation and parole throughout the
State of Missouri; NOW, THEREFORE,.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor and
Council hereby declare the week of July 17-23, 2005, as Probation and Parole
Officer Week; and
BE IT FURTHER
RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in
testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to the Mission Probation
and Parole, Western Region, Kansas City, Missouri, with the appreciation of the
Mayor, Council and citizens of Kansas City for the dedication of the many
outstanding officers in the metropolitan community.
