RESOLUTION NO. 980133

Recognizing the participants of the Community Work Experience Program for their hard work, dedication and desire for self-sufficiency.

WHEREAS, many economically disadvantaged individuals and families in our City are facing bleak prospects for employment and want an opportunity to demonstrate their willingness to work and become contributing members of the community; and

WHEREAS, it is in the public interest to implement steps to assure the availability of jobs for the economically disadvantaged in order to encourage them to develop careers for their future as citizens of Kansas City and to minimize the impact of unemployment in our area; and

WHEREAS, the City of Kansas City has implemented a work-based assistance program named the Community Work Experience Program (CWEP); and

WHEREAS, the goals of the Community Work Experience Program have emphasized clerical and customer service skills and has successfully trained and graduated ten participants; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the participants of the Community Work Experience Program are hereby recognized for their hard work, dedication and desire for self-sufficiency; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that copies hereof be presented to the participants of the Community Work Experience Program.
