ORDINANCE NO. 060633

 

Designating the Scarritt Point Historic District Boundary Increase on about 7.2 acres located at 120 and 200 N Bales Avenue, 207 N Indiana Avenue and 3130-3500 Windsor Avenue, a historic landmark. (250-S-110)

 

WHEREAS, the Landmarks Commission held an advertised hearing on the designation of the Scarritt Point Historic District Boundary Increase on about 7.2 acres located at 120 and 200 N Bales Avenue, 207 N Indiana Avenue and 3130-3500 Windsor Avenue on March 24, 2006; and

 

WHEREAS, the Landmarks Commission determined that the properties as a district have particular significance under Architecture and History of the National Register of Historic Places Criteria for Evaluation for evaluation as 22 properties along Windsor Avenue between Gladstone and Bales and Scarritt Point is the area of the birth of Kansas Citys parks and boulevard system; and

 

WHEREAS, the Landmarks Commission unanimously recommended that the Scarritt Point Historic District Boundary Increase, generally located at 120 and 200 N Bales Avenue, 207 N Indiana Avenue and 3130-3500 Windsor Avenue, be designated an historic landmark; and

 

WHEREAS, the City Plan Commission held an advertised public hearing on May 16, 2006, and unanimously recommended the designation of the Scarritt Point Historic District Boundary Increase as an historic landmark; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section 1. That the Scarritt Point Historic District Boundary Increase, generally located at 120 and 200 N Bales Avenue, 207 N Indiana Avenue and 3130-3500 Windsor Avenue, and more specifically described as follows:

 

South 1/4 of Northwest 1/4 Section 34 Township 50 Range 33, Beginning on centerline of Vacated Walrond 139.1 feet South of Southerly Line of Gladstone Boulevard Then South Along Centerline to North Line Windsor, West 80 feet, Then North 74.43 feet, Then East 5.34 feet, Then North 29.4 feet, Then Northeasterly 85 feet to Beginning.

 

South 1/4 of Northwest 1/4 Section 34 Township 50 Range 33, Beginning on South Line Windsor Ave, 75.2 Feet West of Northwest Corner, Lot 12, Melrose, Then South 109 Feet, Then West 50.2 Feet, Then North 109 Feet, Then East 50.2 Feet to Point of Beginning.

 

South 1/4 of Northwest 1/4 Section 34 Township 50 Range 33, Beginning on South Line Windsor Ave at Point 25 Feet West of Northwest Corner Lot 12, Melrose, Then West 50.2 feet, Then South 109 Feet, Then East 50 Feet to Center Line of Vacated Walrond Ave, Then North 109 Feet to Point of Beginning. All Lots 13 26, West 43.5 Feet of Lot 27 and the South of Vacated Alley North of and Adjoining of said Lots, and All Lots 7-12 and the North of Vacated Alley South of and Adjoining of said Lots, and the East 25 feet of the Vacated Walrond Avenue West of & Adjoining Lots 12 & 13; All Lots 93-97, and the North 40 feet of Lots 98 & 99, all of Melrose Addition, a subdivision in Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri.

 

is hereby designated as an historic landmark.

 

Section 2. That the Council finds and declares that before taking any action on the proposed designation, all public notices and hearings required by law have been given and had.
