RESOLUTION NO. 160939
Honoring Larry Halford on the occasion of his retirement
after more than 26 years of dedicated service with the Kansas City, Missouri.
WHEREAS,
Corrections Officer Larry Halford has been employed by the City of Kansas City,
Missouri since October 22, 1990, and will retire from public service on
December 31, 2016; and
WHEREAS, along
with some of his colleagues, Mr. Halford works in the daily operation of the
Municipal Court transportation unit, transporting detainees to and from the
Regional Correctional Center and other facilities to court hearings, medical
appointments, substance abuse and mental health treatment and other locations
as ordered by the court; and
WHEREAS, Mr.
Halford has been the epitome of professionalism, adaptability and dignity. He
began his career as a Corrections Officer at the former Municipal Correction
Institution where he supervised the inmate trustee crew, leading the inmates on
various details including building maintenance, building repairs and outside
work such as mowing vacant lots;
WHEREAS, Mr.
Halford successfully helped the corrections division make the move from the
Municipal Correction Institution to the Regional Correctional Center; and
WHEREAS, a proud
and devoted father and grandfather, Mr. Halford’s retirement plans include
spending more time with his family and working with the men’s group at his
church; and
WHEREAS, Mr.
Halford has left his mark on the Municipal Court by serving in a friendly,
confident and professional manner, always exuding warmth and goodness; NOW,
THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED
BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor
and Council hereby recognize Larry Halford for his more than twenty six years
of service to the City of Kansas City, Missouri; and
BE IT FURTHER
RESOLVED that this resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in
testimony thereof and that a copy be presented to Mr. Halford with the thanks
of the Mayor and City Council and their wishes for a very happy retirement.
