RESOLUTION NO. 120451
Honoring Park Hill South High School on receiving Missouri’s
Gold Star School Award for academic achievement.
WHEREAS, two of the
eight schools statewide earned the Missouri’s Gold Star School Award for
academic achievement which puts the schools into the nationwide pool of schools
that have been nominated in the U.S. Department of Education’s Blue Ribbon
Schools Award; and
WHEREAS, at the State
level, the Gold Star Schools Program is the recognition program administered by
the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education with a rigorous criteria
being aligned with the national Blue Ribbon Schools Program; and
WHEREAS, the program
recognizes schools whose students achieve at very high levels or schools that
make significant progress in closing the achievement gap and sets a standard of
excellence for all schools striving for the highest level of achievement; and
WHEREAS, Park Hill
South High School is located in Kansas City, Missouri and are focused on
quality teaching and doing what it takes to help students succeed and meet
their individual potential; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor and
Council hereby honor Park Hill South High School on receiving Missouri’s Gold
Star School Award for academic achievement; and
BE IT FURTHER
RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in
testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Dr. Dale Longenecker,
Principal, Park Hill South High School, with the congratulations of the Mayor,
Council and citizens of Kansas City for the outstanding job they are doing in
teaching the children of our future.
