RESOLUTION NO. 120506

 

Declaring the week of June 4 through 8, 2012, Employee Learning Week in the City of Kansas City, Missouri.

 

WHEREAS, all employees of the City of Kansas City, Missouri contribute to maintaining a high quality of life for the citizens of Kansas City; and

 

WHEREAS, the City’s most important asset in providing excellent Citizen Satisfaction is a talented and skilled workforce; and

 

WHEREAS, learning allows employees to adapt easily and quickly to new responsibilities, changes in priorities, and the ever-shifting needs of the City; and

 

WHEREAS, learning increases employees’ ability to think creatively and generate new ideas and innovative solutions to challenges: and

 

WHEREAS, the City is committed to encouraging all its employees to seek ongoing education and training opportunities; and

 

WHEREAS, the City of Kansas City, Missouri, in support of its policy of excellence in public service, is privileged to have employees who are committed to the betterment of themselves and the communities in which they live; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council recognize June 4 through 8, 2012, as Employee Learning Week; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Rebecca Lahann, Human Resources Department, with the Mayor and Council urging all City employees to take time during the week and throughout the year to seek out opportunities to learn new skills and advance their education in order to better serve the citizens of Kansas City, Missouri.
