RESOLUTION NO. 080261
Recognizing the
Rockhill Tennis Clubs significant role in preserving the residential character
of the Rockhill and Southmoreland neighborhoods.
WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes the
importance of historic residential neighborhoods to Kansas City and desires to
express the Councils continued support for preserving the viability of midtown
neighborhoods; and
WHEREAS, the City Council hereby recognizes
that the Rockhill Tennis Club has been in its existing facility at 45th and Rockhill
Road for more than 50 years and appreciates the positive impact the Rockhill
Tennis Club has had in enhancing the quality of life and preserving the
residential character of the Rockhill and Southmoreland neighborhoods; and
WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes the need
to discourage land uses in neighborhoods that are not compatible with
residential uses; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
Section 1. That the Mayor and the City Council
hereby express their support of the efforts of the Rockhill, Southmoreland and
Hyde Park neighborhoods in midtown Kansas City to preserve the residential
character of their neighborhoods and to maintain Rockhill Tennis Clubs
continued use as a tennis club in order to enhance the quality of life for the
residents of the midtown neighborhoods.
Section 2. That the Mayor and City Council
support a culturally and artistically vibrant Kansas City that also serves the
best interests of our neighborhoods.
