ORDINANCE NO. 200779

 

Approving the termination of the 4601 Madison Avenue Urban Renewal Plan generally located at the southeast corner of 46th Street and Madison Avenue.

 

WHEREAS, the Land Clearance for Redevelopment Authority of Kansas City, Missouri (“LCRA”) is a public body corporate and politic created by the Land Clearance for Redevelopment Authority Law, Section 99.300, et seq., RSMo (“LCRA Law”), and is transacting business and exercising the powers granted by the LCRA Law by virtue of Committee Substitute for Ordinance No. 16120; and

 

WHEREAS, the LCRA approved the 4601 Madison Avenue Urban Renewal Plan, generally located at the southeast corner of 46th Street and Madison Avenue, (“Plan”) on November 16. 2005, by Resolution 11-06-05; and

 

WHEREAS, the City Council approved the Plan on January 19, 2006, by Ordinance No. 051419; and

 

WHEREAS, the Plan, as originally approved by the City Council, provided that it would continue for a period of fifteen years; which was, until on or January 19, 2021; and

 

WHEREAS, the original acquisition and rehabilitation project was completed and the property tax abatement through a sale/leaseback has expired; and

 

WHEREAS, LCRA approved the termination the Plan at its August 26, 2020 meeting; and

 

WHEREAS, LCRA Law and Plan require that the City Council act with respect to such termination, should it elect to approve the same; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section 1. That the termination of the 4601 Madison Avenue Urban Renewal Plan, as the same was previously approved by the City Council via Ordinance No. 051138, is hereby approved.
