RESOLUTION NO. 190242

 

Approving and supporting the City Manager to implement the comprehensive citywide improvement plan for solid waste services that includes additional staffing, facilities, and equipment; and preparing ordinances appropriating funding to complete the plan.

 

WHEREAS, on February 28, 2019, the City Council passed Resolution No. 190159 directing the City Manager to develop a comprehensive citywide improvement plan for solid waste collection including multi-family housing that provides optimal service at a cost below contractual market; and

 

WHEREAS, the City Manager has developed his comprehensive citywide improvement plan for solid waste services identifying funding mechanisms for staffing, equipment, and facilities; and

 

WHEREAS, the City Manager was able to provide for additional staffing in solid waste services in the 2019-2020 budget; and

 

WHEREAS, the City Manager will need additional funding for equipment and the construction of the new solid waste facility; and

 

WHEREAS, the City Council supports the implementation of the plan and appropriating funding to complete the plan, NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section 1. That the City Council approves the Solid Waste Management Plan as presented by the City Manager.

 

Section 2. That the Council directs the City Manager to implement the plan by preparing ordinances that appropriate funding for equipment and for the design and construction of a Solid Waste facility.
