RESOLUTION NO. 080055

 

Recognizing and expressing appreciation to the Clay County Economic Development Council and Ryan Weiss of National Starch & Chemical of North Kansas City for their in-kind donation of Six Sigma training to two staff members and one Kansas City Police Officer.

 

WHEREAS, the City of Kansas City recognizes and extends appreciation to the Clay County Economic Development Council and to Ryan Weiss, National Starch & Chemical for their in-kind donation of Six Sigma training to the City of Kansas City; and

 

WHEREAS, the Clay County Economic Development Council and National Starch & Chemical donated three seats of Six Sigma training to the City of Kansas City and the Kansas City Police Department, valued at $45,000.00; and

 

WHEREAS, the Six Sigma technique is a continuous quality improvement tool that identifies problems and develops solutions that include all stakeholders involved in the process; and

 

WHEREAS, the identified projects for this training included decreasing the number of requests for transfers between departments in the 311 Action Center, improving the quality of plans being reviewed by the Plats Review Committee and decreasing the recidivism rate and the number of domestic violence calls received by the Kansas City North Patrol Division. This process will assist City staff in identifying future projects that will have measurable outcomes; and

 

WHEREAS, with this contribution, the City of Kansas City is able to continue its learning of private sector best practices and apply similar principles to Kansas Citys local government; and

 

WHEREAS, National Starch & Chemical is recognized by the City of Kansas City as a leader in the practice of Six Sigma; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council look forward to continuing and strengthening their relationship with the Clay County Economic Development Council and National Starch & Chemical in regards to the training of City staff members on the techniques, principles and theories of Six Sigma; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to the Clay County Economic Development Council and Ryan Weiss of National Starch & Chemical as a token of our appreciation.
