ORDINANCE NO. 100787

 

Authorizing a contract not to exceed $2,200,000.00 with the Metropolitan Energy Center to provide services helpful to owners of residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings to implement energy efficiency upgrades to their buildings through the EnergyWorks KC initiative and the expenditure of previously appropriated funds in the amount of $2,200,000.00 made available through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 and the U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program.

 

WHEREAS, the City was one of 25 entities nationwide selected by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to be a recipient of a Better Buildings (formerly Retrofit Ramp-up) grant; and

 

WHEREAS, the City has negotiated a revised scope of work consistent with a grant award in the amount of $20,000,000.00 in order to implement the EnergyWorks KC initiative over a three-year period; and

 

WHEREAS, this Council passed Ordinance No. 100509, which authorized the City Manager to accept a grant from the U.S. DOE in the amount of $20,000,000.00 and appropriated those funds to the EECBG account of the ARRA Stimulus Fund; and

 

WHEREAS, the City desires to enter into a contract with the Metropolitan Energy Center to provide services helpful to owners of residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings to implement energy efficiency upgrades to their buildings through the EnergyWorks KC initiative; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section 1. That the City Manager, or his designee, is hereby authorized to execute Contract No. EECBG-ARRA-OEQ-2 with the Metropolitan Energy Center to provide services helpful to owners of residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings to implement energy efficiency upgrades to their buildings through the EnergyWorks KC initiative. A copy of the contract is on file with the City Clerk.

I hereby certify that there is a balance, otherwise unencumbered, to the credit of the appropriation to which the foregoing expenditure is to be charged, and a cash balance, otherwise unencumbered, in the treasury, to the credit of the fund from which payment is to be made, each sufficient to meet the obligation hereby incurred.
