RESOLUTION NO. 180934

 

Recognizing the contributions of the Urban Core Clean-Up on October 27, 2018.

 

WHEREAS, Aim4Peace formed a coalition with Urban Neighborhood Initiative (UNI) whom has relationships with 11 Neighborhood Associations in the 3rd District in Kansas City Missouri, (Boston Height, Mount Hope, Wendell Philips, Key Coalition, Ivanhoe, Blue Hills, Center City and Historic Mannheim Park), came together and executed another round of the Urban Core Clean-up on October 27, 2018; and

 

WHEREAS, Nephateri Hill, Community Engagement Manager with KC Health Department Aim4Peace Violence Prevention Program, has been driving the project since August 2018 and Community Health & Wellness Coordinator, Darryl Answer, and Robert Woods the Special Projects Coordinator of Neighborhood and Housing Services, who worked directly with the Neighborhood Presidents and other community organizations; and

 

WHEREAS, John Fish of Bridging the Gap along with Roberta Vogel of Green Works worked solely on cleaning Troost Lake; and

 

WHEREAS, Municipal Court Housing Judge Todd Wilcher allowed 10 housing code violators to assist with the clean-up efforts; and

 

WHEREAS, Center for Neighborhoods provided bottled waters for volunteers on this project; and

 

WHEREAS, Pam Lipari of Sunfresh Market located in the 3rd district, supported our efforts with preparing lunch for our volunteers; and

 

WHEREAS, Councilman Quinton Lucas, saw this project as an opportunity to afford all citizens of a cleaner, healthier and safer environment in the City of Kansas City; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby recognize the contributions of the Urban Core Clean-Up on October 27, 2018; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Nephateri Hill, Representative, with the Mayor, Council and citizens of Kansas City recognizing the contributions of the Urban Core Clean-Up on October 27, 2018, for the quality of life in our neighborhoods.
