RESOLUTION NO. 100915

 

Honoring David Powell on his retirement after 29 years 6 months of dedicated service to the City of Kansas City, Missouri Water Services Department.

 

WHEREAS, David began his career with the City as a Drafting Aide II with the Water and Pollution Control Department in 1981 and during his career has held the positions of an Engineering Aide III, a Senior Engineering Technician and the Manager of the Water Main Extension Program as a Principal Engineering Technician; and

 

WHEREAS, David is a third generation City employee following his late father, Wayne Powell from the Water and Pollution Control Department and his late maternal grandmother Rosemary Welton from the Finance Department and his late maternal grandfather Charles Welton from the Water Department; and

  

WHEREAS, David and his family are very active in the Native American Indian community as officers and members of community boards and as dancers in American Indian Pow Wows; and

 

WHEREAS, David looks forward to his retirement in order to spend more time with his family and especially his wife of 26 years, Idona; and

 

WHEREAS, David looks forward to more hunting and fishing on his Great Grandparents farm on the Osage Branch of Truman Lake and passing on those skills to the 6th generation to hunt and fish the farm, his grandsons Anthony and Christopher; and

 

WHEREAS, October 31, 2010, will mark the last day of David’s career with the City of Kansas City, Missouri; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby extend to Mr. David Powell, on the occasion of his retirement from City service, the heartiest best wishes for his future, together with appreciation for his 29 years and 6 months of dedicated service to the citizens of Kansas City; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Mr. David Powell in token of the Mayor and Council’s respect and high regard and their best wishes for the long and happy retirement which he so richly deserves.
