COMMITTEE SUBSTITUTE FOR RESOLUTION NO. 081025

 

Approving the preparation and submission of an application to the United States Environmental Protection Agency in accordance with the Comprehensive Environmental Response and Liability Act of 1980, as amended, for a Brownfields Assessment Coalition Grant in the amount of $1,000,000.00 for the assessment of hazardous waste and petroleum brownfield properties, and approving the City entering into a coalition with Jackson County, Missouri and the Land Clearance for Redevelopment Authority of Kansas City, Missouri to submit the Brownfields Assessment Coalition Grant.

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section 1. That the application for a Brownfields Assessment Coalition Grant in the amount of $1,000,000.00 for the assessment of hazardous waste brownfield sites and petroleum brownfield sites located in Kansas City and Jackson County, Missouri, pursuant to the United States Environmental Protection Agency proposal guidelines for Brownfield Assessment Grants in accordance with the Comprehensive Environmental Response and Liability Act of 1980, as amended, a copy of which in substantial form is attached hereto, is hereby approved.

 

Section 2. That Kansas City enter into a coalition with Jackson County, Missouri and the Land Clearance for Redevelopment Authority of Kansas City, Missouri to submit the Brownfields Assessment Coalition Grant as the lead coalition member, and that the Mayor is authorized to submit a letter with the grant application expressing the intent of Kansas City to enter the above-mentioned coalition.

 

Section 3. That the Mayor, on behalf of Kansas City, is hereby authorized to execute and submit the application for the Brownfields Assessment Coalition Grant to the Environmental Protection Agency.
