RESOLUTION NO. 900638

 

Directing the City Manager or his staff to conduct a study on the future utilization of Fire Station No. 27.

WHEREAS, Fire Station No. 27 located at 6600 Truman Road has played an important role in that community for a number of years; and

 

WHEREAS, Fire Station No. 27 is currently staffed by a quick response unit consisting of two (2) firefighters which has caused some concerns in the community as to the level of utilization of the station; and

 

WHEREAS, a permanent location needs to be selected for the Hazmat team since the station they now share is currently overcrowded; and

 

WHEREAS, Fire Station No. 27 is a good location for the Hazmat team; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section 1. That the City Manager, or his designee, is directed to conduct a study on the future needs of Fire Station No. 27, 6600 Truman Road. That as part of this study, they should meet with area community and business leaders to review the adequacy of their fire suppression needs and to determine the feasibility of locating the Hazmat team at that location when the station is replaced.

 

Section 2. That the City Manager, or his designee, is requested to present the results of the study to the City Council within 120 days following the adoption of this Resolution.
