ORDINANCE NO. 020219

Endorsing the Planned Industrial Expansion Authority in its application to the Missouri Department of Economic Development Brownfields Redevelopment Program for $500,000.00 in grant funds for public capital improvements in the Central Industrial District; authorizing the Mayor to execute documents in connection with the application.

WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Council have established a Brownfields Commission to facilitate the identification, clean-up and redevelopment of environmentally contaminated properties within the City; and

WHEREAS, a primary objective of the Brownfields Commission and the Brownfields Showcase Community is to assist development of brownfield properties in Kansas City through accessing state and federal brownfield incentives; and

WHEREAS, the Planned Industrial Expansion Authority (PIEA) has proposed to use grant funds to demolish a blighted, vacant structure located at 707 and 707 B Mulberry in the Central Industrial District, abate related environmental hazards and acquire property for the development of infrastructure improvements to serve nearby private commercial and industrial redevelopment that will create jobs and increase tax revenues; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

Section 1. That the Mayor and Council endorse the application of PIEA to the Missouri Department of Economic Development for Public Capital Improvement grant funds pursuant to the Missouri Brownfields Redevelopment Program, a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof.

Section 2. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute the endorsement form of the application of PIEA to the Missouri Department of Economic Development.
