RESOLUTION NO. 160742

 

Honoring Terry Winbush on his retirement after 36 years of dedicated service to the City of Kansas City, Missouri.

 

WHEREAS, Terry started working for the City in the Public Works Department in 1980 as an Engineering Technician, transferred to the Special Projects Division in 1982, and promoted to a Graduate Engineer position in 1986; and

 

WHEREAS, in 2004, Special Projects Division (to be renamed Waterways Division) along with Terry transferred to the Water Services Department; and

 

WHEREAS, Terry served as Project Manager for Blue River Projects in partnership with the Corps of Engineers for Dodson Industrial District Flood Reduction, early stages of the Swope Park Industrial Flood Risk Mitigation, and Blue River Channel Modification Project completed in 2015 providing the following public health and safety benefits for Kansas City:

 

·         Lowering of the 100-year water elevation by 6 to 8 feet;

·         Reduction of property damage by removing 600 acres, 200 structures and 8 miles of roadway from the 100 year floodplain;

·         Improvement of utilities and 21 bridges;

·         Removal of more than 10,000 tires, 95,000 tons of solid waste, and 350 abandoned barrels; and

 

WHEREAS, Terry looks forward to his retirement to continue enjoying God’s gift of health and strength, life, his children, and friends; and

 

WHEREAS, September 30, 2016, will mark the last day of Terry’s career with the City of Kansas City, Missouri; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby extend to Mr. Terry Winbush, on the occasion of his retirement from City service, the heartiest best wishes for his future, together with appreciation for his 36 years of dedicated service to the citizens of Kansas City; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Mr. Terry Winbush in token of the Mayor and Council’s respect and high regard and their best wishes for the long and happy retirement which he so richly deserves.
