COMMITTEE SUBSTITUTE FOR ORDINANCE NO. 190642

 

Reappropriating the amount of $10,691,631.00 from the Central City Sales Tax Fund into designated accounts for Round Two project funding recommendations from the Central City Sales Tax Board.

 

WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 160861 put before the voters the question of enacting an economic development sales tax devoted to projects located within the area bounded by 9th Street on the north, Gregory Boulevard on the south, Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard on the west, and Indiana Avenue on the east; and

 

WHEREAS, in a Special Election called on April 4, 2017, the voters of the City of Kansas City, Missouri approved Question 4 allowing the City of Kansas City to impose a sales tax of 1/8 percent to be used for funding economic development projects within the above defined area; and

 

WHEREAS, Section 67.1305.14, RSMo, provides that the City Council is to have the final determination on the use and expenditure of the sales tax revenues; and

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section 1. That the sum of $10,691,631.00 is hereby reduced in the following accounts in the Central City Sales Tax Fund:

 

20-2200-642047-B Central City Sales Tax $10,691,631.00

 

Section 2. That the sum of $2,195,770.00 is hereby appropriated from the Unappropriated Fund Balance of the Central City Sales Tax Fund to the following account:

 

20-2200-645998-B Central City Sales Tax-Projects $ 2,195,770.00

Section 4. That the Director of City Planning and Development is hereby designated requisitioning authority for Account No. 20-2200-645998-B.

 

Section 5. That the Director of Neighborhoods and Housing Services is hereby designated requisitioning authority for Account No. 20-2200-575998-B.
