RESOLUTION NO. 170380

 

Thanking the sponsors of the Real Estate Associate Program and congratulating the Class from Kansas City, Missouri.

 

WHEREAS, nationally the commercial real estate industry's professional ranks are less than 1% minority at management levels; and

 

WHEREAS, the Real Estate Associate Program (REAP) is now widely acknowledged to be the most successful diversity initiative in the commercial real estate industry; and

 

WHEREAS, since 1998, REAP's competitive and selective process has attracted credentialed, career-changing, professionals including architects, bankers, engineers, MBA's, lawyers and sales people; and

 

WHEREAS, Kansas City has just completed its first REAP Class, becoming the ninth city in the United States to do the program; and

 

WHEREAS, the 2017 class included 19 candidates representing various professions; and

 

WHEREAS, students learned about market research, multi-family development, asset management and other topics from a variety of Kansas City – based development professionals; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby congratulate the inaugural REAP Kansas City class for completing the program and wish them good luck in all of their real estate endeavors; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Mayor and Council thank Mark Thomas of Copaken Brooks, John Snyder of Dentons, Ruben Alonso III of Altcap, and McClain Bryant of the Mayor’s Office for organizing and sponsoring the Inaugural REAP program in Kansas City; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to these sponsors and organizers as a token of the Mayor and Council’s respect, high regard, and their congratulations for bringing this program to Kansas City.
