Authorizing a one-year $985,960.00 contract with SAVE, Inc., to provide housing assistance for low-income persons living with HIV/AIDS.

WHEREAS, SAVE, Inc. provides housing assistance for persons infected with HIV and their families; and


WHEREAS, the Health Department is committed to providing continued support for persons with HIV; and


WHEREAS, this ordinance provides the funding needed to continue this vital service uninterrupted to prevent a possible gap in services and care; NOW, THEREFORE,




Section 1. That a contract between the City of Kansas City, Missouri, acting through its Director of Health, and SAVE, Inc., acting through its Executive Director, whereby SAVE will provide housing assistance for low-income residents living with HIV/AIDS in Kansas City’s Eligible Metropolitan Area (EMA) for the period of September 1, 2010 through August 31, 2011, for a total contract amount of $985,960.00 to be paid from funds previously appropriated to Account No. 11-2740-505004-B, is hereby authorized. A copy of the contract, in substantial form, is attached and made a part by reference.




I hereby certify that there is a balance, otherwise unencumbered, to the credit of the appropriation to which the foregoing expenditure is to be charged, and a cash balance, otherwise unencumbered, in the treasury, to the credit of the fund from which payment is to be made, each sufficient to meet the obligation hereby incurred.
