ORDINANCE NO. 900374

 

Authorizing a $138,413.00 contract with Strut Specialties, Inc. for the manufacture and installation of dasher boards and glass at Kemper Arena; declaring an emergency.

WHEREAS, the dasher boards and glass partitions at Kemper Arena have been shown to be inadequate and unsafe for use during the upcoming Kansas City Blades hockey season which will begin September 28, 1990; and

 

WHEREAS, the City desires to replace such dasher boards and glass in order to preserve the health and safety of the public which will attend such hockey games; NOW, THEREFORE

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section 1. That the Director of Special Facilities is hereby authorized and directed to enter into a contract with Strut Specialties, Inc. in the amount of $138,413.00 for the purchase and installation of dasher boards and glass at Kemper Arena from funds heretofore appropriated to General Fund Account No. 83300-B-601, Buildings and Other Repairs.

 

Section 2. That this ordinance is hereby declared an emergency necessary for the immediate preservation of public health and safety and shall take effect immediately upon passage.

I hereby certify that there is a balance, otherwise unencumbered, to the credit of the appropriation to which the foregoing expenditure is to be charged, and a cash balance, otherwise unencumbered, in the treasury, to the credit of the fund from which payment is to be made, each sufficient to meet the obligation hereby incurred.
