RESOLUTION NO. 100686

 

Honoring Habitat Young Professionals Kansas City for being a group that engages young professionals (ages 21-40) in the work of Habitat for Humanity Kansas City.

 

WHEREAS, Habitat Young Professionals of Kansas City (HYP KC) aims to bring young people of all professions and backgrounds together to give back to their community while having fun; and

 

WHEREAS, HYP KC wants to inspire young professionals to make a difference, raise awareness of poverty housing issues, and contribute to the work done by Habitat for Humanity in Kansas City; and

 

WHEREAS, HYP KC members get together for networking and happy hours, have build days on the Habitat KC construction sites, and host other fun events as their ultimate goal is to raise enough money to build their own "HYP House" with Habitat KC; and

 

WHEREAS, HYP KC is coordinated by a Leadership Team of seven individuals - five volunteers, one AmeriCorps member and one Habitat KC staff member; and

 

WHEREAS, in the last year, HYP KC has helped build homes for five families through Habitat for Humanity and they have raised roughly $1,000. They are proud to be able to raise money, network and fulfill a need to help their communities; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby honor Habitat Young Professionals Kansas City for being a group that engages young professionals (ages 21-40) in the work of Habitat for Humanity Kansas City; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Mandy Caruso and Kara Miller of Habitat Young Professionals KC with the appreciation of the Mayor and Council for their dedication to giving back to the Kansas City community.
