RESOLUTION NO. 120295

 

Honoring Laurel D. Eckert on her retirement after 27 years and 6 months of dedicated service to the City of Kansas City, Missouri.

 

WHEREAS, Laurel has held numerous positions in the Aviation, Health, Parks and Recreation, and Water Services Departments throughout her career with the City; and

 

WHEREAS, Laurel earned an Associate Degree in Applied Science/Legal Technology from Penn Valley Community College while working at the City; and

 

WHEREAS, Laurel has worked in the Water Services Department in the Consumer Services Division since May 2004, and won an Exceptional Service Certificate in 2005; and

 

WHEREAS, Laurel was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri of Dutch and Cherokee descent, the second oldest of five children; and

 

WHEREAS, Laurel has been a born-again Christian since June 26, 2001, and is a member of the family Worship Center, Baton Rouge, Louisiana as well as the SonLife Broadcasting and Jimmy Swaggart Ministries; and

 

WHEREAS, Laurel enjoys camping, hiking, animals, going to Powwows, researching her heritage, and storm chasing; and

 

WHEREAS, Laurel looks forward to her retirement in order to start her own online business involving pet/owner attire and gifts, and spending time with her Chihuahua Ricco Suave; and

 

WHEREAS, March 30, 2012, will mark the last day of Laurel’s career with the City of Kansas City, Missouri; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY;

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby extend to Ms. Laurel D. Eckert, on the occasion of her retirement from City service, the heartiest best wishes for her future, together with appreciation for her 27 years and 6 months of dedicated service to the citizens of Kansas City; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Ms. Laurel D. Eckert in token of their respect and high regard and their best wisher for the long and happy retirement which she so richly deserves.
