RESOLUTION NO. 110967
Recognizing the Cultural Heritage
District, a guide for future development for that part of Kansas City,
Missouri, that is generally bounded by 41st Street to the north, Volker
Boulevard to the south, Gillham Road to the east and Main Street to the west.
WHEREAS, the
City Development Department has worked with area institutions
and with the Rockhill and Southmoreland neighborhoods
on a study to discuss the participating institutions’ future expansion
needs with adjacent neighborhoods; and
WHEREAS, said
study provides a guide for future development and redevelopment of the area and
for general policies to guide future decisions; and
WHEREAS, public
notice of the hearing on the Cultural Heritage District Plan before the City
Plan Commission was published on March 15, 2011; and
WHEREAS, after
all interested persons were given an opportunity to present testimony, the City
Plan Commission considered and recommended approval of the Cultural Heritage
District Plan on September 20, 2011; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED
BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
Section A. That
the Cultural Heritage District Plan is hereby recognized as the guide for the
future development and redevelopment for that area generally bounded by 41st
Street to the north, Volker Boulevard to the south, Gillham Road to the east
and Main Street to the west. A copy of the Cultural Heritage District Plan is
attached hereto, in substantial form, and is hereby approved.
Section B. That
the Council commends the planning process participants for their hard work on
the Cultural Heritage District Plan and their dedication to bettering the
quality of life for the residents of Kansas City.
