RESOLUTION NO. 190258

 

Amending the Truman Plaza Area Plan by amending the proposed land Use plan and map from medium high density residential and light industrial to commercial for an area of approximately 6.2 acres generally located at the southwest and southeast intersections of E. 12th Street and Chestnut Avenue. (CD-CPC-2019-00016).

 

WHEREAS, on January 12, 2012, the City Council by Resolution No. 110976 adopted the Truman Plaza Area Plan as a guide for the future development and redevelopment and public investment for that area generally bounded by the Union Pacific Railroad Tracks on the north, Interstate 35, The Paseo and Woodland Avenue on the west, Interstate 70 on the south, and the Big Blue River, BNSF Railroad Tracks, and Belmont Avenue on the east; and

 

WHEREAS, the Truman Plaza Area Plan was amended by the adoption of Resolution No. 130678 on September 12, 2013, Resolution No. 130836 on November 7, 2013, Resolution No. 170110 on February 16, 2017, and Resolution No. 180244 on April 12, 2018; and

 

WHEREAS, after further review by the City Development Department, it has been deemed appropriate to amend the Truman Plaza Area Plan as it affects the area generally located on 6.2 acres generally located at the southwest and southeast intersections of E. 12th Street and Chestnut Avenue, by changing the recommended land use from medium high density residential and light industrial to commercial; and

 

WHEREAS, the City Plan Commission considered such amendment to the Proposed Land Use Plan and Map on August 7, 2018; and

 

WHEREAS, after all interested persons were given an opportunity to present testimony, the City Plan Commission did on August 7, 2018, recommend approval of the proposed amendment to the Truman Plaza Area Plan; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section A. That the Truman Plaza Area Plan is hereby amended as to the proposed land use plan and map for an area of approximately 6.2 acres generally located at the southwest and southeast intersections of E. 12th Street and Chestnut Avenue, by changing the recommended land use from medium high density residential and light industrial to commercial.

 

Section B. That the amendment to the Truman Plaza Area Plan is consistent and complies with the FOCUS Kansas City Plan adopted on October 30, 1997, by Committee Substitute for Resolution No. 971268, and is adopted as a supplement to the FOCUS Kansas City Plan.

 

Section C. That the Council finds and declares that before taking any action on the proposed area plan amendment hereinabove, all public notices have been given and hearings have been held as required by law
