ORDINANCE NO. 081105

 

Establishing a Kansas City Transit and Rail Advisory Committee to advise the City Council on issues related to the planning, development, construction, and operation of light rail.

 

WHEREAS, Ordinance 071202 expressed the City Councils commitment on November 8, 2007 to place a light rail plan before voters by November 4, 2008; and

 

WHEREAS, Ordinance 080693 puts forth a light rail plan for voter approval on November 4, 2008; and

 

WHEREAS, the City, in conjunction with the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority, sought public input and comment on potential light rail projects; and

 

WHEREAS, the City values such citizen participation in its planning process; and

 

WHEREAS, the City expressed its intentions for a light rail starter line in Resolution 080694; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section 1. That there is hereby created and established a Kansas City Transit and Rail Advisory Committee to advise the City Council on issues related to the planning, development, construction, and operation of light rail.

 

Section 2. That the Kansas City Citizens Transit and Rail Advisory Committee shall include citizens and representatives of community stakeholders.
