FOR RESOLUTION NO. 060233
Supporting
the recommendation of the tow lot site selection committee by directing the
City Manager, or his designee, to work with the Northeast Industrial
Association to address their concerns about the facility design and placement
of the tow lot in their area and to provide future communications with the
Association to address concerns, if any, regarding facility operational issues
in the future.
WHEREAS, the
relocation of the tow lot to a new facility was recommended by the City Auditor
in 1999; and
WHEREAS,
construction of a new facility will result in improved efficiency and customer
service; and
WHEREAS, a site
selection committee was established to identify the best possible location for
the new facility; and
WHEREAS, the
site selection committee has recommended property at approximately 7700 E. Front Street; and
WHEREAS, the
Northeast Industrial Association is concerned about a potential negative impact
on the area; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED
BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the recommendation
of the tow lot site selection committee is supported by directing the City
Manager, or his designee, to work with the Northeast Industrial Association
during design and construction of the facility to ensure that their concerns
are resolved to the extent possible. After the facility becomes operational,
the City Managers designee shall meet at regular intervals with
representatives of the Association to ensure that the facility operational
issues involving a negative impact on the area, if any, will be properly
addressed in the future. It is further resolved that $50,000.00 per year for
five years beginning in FY08 shall be set aside for streetscape improvements in
the industrial area between Chouteau and the new tow lot location; with said improvements
to be recommended to the Director of Neighborhood and Community Services by a
committee of members of the Northeast Industrial Association, and
representatives from the City to be designated by the City Manager.
