ORDINANCE NO. 100227
Accepting approximately 7.62
acres of vacant land as an expansion to Frank Vaydik Park and declaring it to
be park property forever and directing the City Clerk to record this ordinance
and attached documents.
WHEREAS, it is the
desire of the Board of Parks and Recreation Commissioners to enhance and expand
open space and recreation opportunities by adding additions to the parks system
in appropriate situations; and
WHEREAS, Frank Vaydik
Park, a 137.54 acre neighborhood park whose assembly began in 1966 is generally
located in the vicinity of N.W. Englewood Road and N.W. Waukomis Drive, both
designated as future parkways; and
WHEREAS, a 7.62 acre
parcel was purchased from Rosemary C. Kilker as an addition to Frank Vaydik
Park, bringing the total size of the park to 145.16 acres; and
WHEREAS,
by Resolution No. 28767 adopted March 2, 2010 the Board of Parks and Recreation
Commissioners recommended designation of this property as parkland forever in
accordance with Section 1004 of the City Charter; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE
COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
Section 1. That the
following property is accepted as an addition to the Parks, Recreation and
Boulevard System as park property and to remain as park property forever in
accordance with the provisions of Section 1004 of the City Charter
All that part of the
Southwest Quarter of the Northeast Quarter of Section 28, Township 51, Range
33, described as follows:
Beginning at a point
265 feet east of the northwest corner of the Southwest Quarter of the Northeast
Quarter of Section 28, Township 51, Range 33, and running thence south and
parallel to the west line of said Northeast Quarter 543.70 feet; thence east
and parallel to the north line of said Southwest Quarter of the Northeast Quarter,
682.94 feet to the center of County Road, thence in a northwesterly direction
along the center of County Road to the north line of said Southwest Quarter of
the Northeast Quarter, thence west 476.7 feet to the point of beginning in Kansas
City, Platte County, Missouri.
Section 2. That upon the effective date of
this ordinance the City Clerk will record it in the Office of the Clay County
Recorder of Deeds in Platte County, Missouri, as evidence of the acceptance of
the land by Kansas City for public use for park purposes forever.
