RESOLUTION NO. 060923

Honoring the National Sports Center for the Disabled of Kansas City on the services it provides to the community.

WHEREAS, the National Sports Center for the Disabled of Kansas City has partnered with the Kansas City, Missouri Parks and Recreation Department to provide services to youth with disabilities; and

WHEREAS, physically challenged youth have been given the opportunity to participate in baseball camp, a multi-sports activity camp as well as a soccer league tournament; and

WHEREAS, the National Sports Center for the Disabled of Kansas City hosted and conducted a golf tournament in June, 2006; and

WHEREAS, an intern for the National Sports Center for the Disabled of Kansas City has worked with a marketing professional to cultivate local corporate sponsorship for the golf fundraiser and other special events; and

WHEREAS, the outstanding partnership between the Parks and Recreation Department and the National Sports Center of Kansas City has provided disabled youth of the Kansas City metropolitan area with therapeutic recreation programming; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the Mayor and Council hereby honor the National Sports Center for the Disabled of Kansas City on the services it provides to the community; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Mark Bowland, Kris Ekeren and Craig Pollitt with the congratulations of the Mayor, Council and citizens of Kansas City for its successful mission in organizing activities for the handicapped youth in the metropolitan area.
