Description: 1. To assist the City in identifying and responding to the needs of citizens with disabilities as they relate to city programs and activities. 2. To advise and request support from the Mayor, City Council, and Departments concerning activities, programs and projects relating to citizens with disabilities. 3. To provide technical assistance to the various departments of the City in developing and implementing plans to comply with local, state and federal legislation affecting citizens with disabilities. 4. To develop and implement new and cost effective techniques to improve coordination of community and governmental services for citizens with disabilities. 5. To develop and maintain a current resource center and information and referral system to serve citizens with disabilities. APPOINTMENT PROCESS: Mayor appoints 15 members. NUMBER OF CITY MEMBERS: 15 TERM: 2 years
